Holy mother of pearl. It's been forever since I've even looked at this thing, let alone actually thought about updating it. I've had time here and there to get on the computer, but when I have time alone? Yeah, I'd rather not spend it on here. ANYWAY.
Mikayla turned three earlier this year. It's hard to believe my little girl is already three years old. She's such a handful and turning into such a daddy's girl, but that's okay. I'm glad she's going to have the chance to know her father. I know I was terrified of Jared finding out about her but I'm glad he did. We might not always see eye to eye on things, but he is a good father. Though I am still having troubles letting her go away for weekends and whatnot. I trust Jared with her, I just... I guess I'm paranoid. I don't know. But yeah, the munchkin is three. Oh how time flies.
I had a birthday earlier this month. Yeah, I reached thirty. Nothing spectacular to celebrate there; probably why I kept hush hush about it. I had dinner at my Moms' house and got a few drinks with a couple of friends. Nothing exciting but it was good enough for me.
Other than the birthdays and me working... that's about all that's taken place recently. Oh! I did potty train Mikayla. That was something else. Trust me when I say you don't want to hear about that experience. Yikes.
So! What's been going on, DC?

You Don't Know Me - Ben Folds |

So apparently I need to find higher hiding places for my daughter's Christmas presents. I woke up this morning to a trail of wrapping paper leading from the hall closet to her room. Thankfully it was just a stuffed animal that she found since I took her Tickle Me Elmo away and I've hidden the bigger gifts elsewhere... but I totally foresee Mikayla being that kid that learns to meticulously unwrap presents only to re-wrap them and act surprised Christmas morning.

My kid has already started dictating her Christmas list to Santa. I know, it's not even Thanksgiving yet (Christ. She still has a half bag full of Halloween candy that I'm helping eat), but she wants to get a head start on things. Santa gets busy, you know. Or at least that's what she tells me every night she brings her crayons and paper out for me to dutifully write down her letter. It's cute, though, how sweet she tries to portray herself as. I mean, Mikayla is a terribly sweet kid except for that one time she bit that boy at day care, but... she might as well be a lump of sugar with these numerous letters. Oh well. At least Santa can get a head start on this kid's Christmas.

One of my neighbors got a new puppy. How do I know? Not only have I seen it (it's one of those teeny-tiny, ankle biter dogs. A chihuahua maybe? Dachshund? Something like that), but I've heard it. At night. Whimpering and barking when they put him to bed. I'm pretty sure my bed shares the wall that his crate is pushed up against. It takes that puppy about two hours to cry himself out, I've watched the clock. Poor thing. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't wait so late. I'm up most mornings by 4:30, 5 at the latest... and he doesn't fall asleep until 12:30. If this keeps up for much longer I'm going to have to say something. Bah.
Oh, and because of all of this? Bug now wants a dog of her own. I know that this is just a phase and that she'll forget about wanting one once the new puppy next door quiets down and she forgets about him, but right now? All she talks about is getting a puppy of her own. She's two and a half, that's too young for a dog, isn't it? I never had a dog growing up, we were cat people, so I don't know. I mean, I know that I'm the one that would be taking care of the animal, but... I can't believe I'm even considering it.
So, question! Who here had a puppy as a kid? What kind were they and would you suggest the breed for a two and a half year old? Or am I just crazy?

Mikayla's a good kid, she is, but one of the workers at day care approached me today when I picked her up and informed me that my daughter actually bit some little boy today. All because he yanked her pig tail. She's never bitten anyone before, so I don't know where she got the idea that it was okay to bite this kid. Thank god she didn't bite him hard enough to draw blood. Even though I know little kids bite, I'm hoping that this is going to be a one time thing, but if it's not... any parents out there have any suggestions as to how to get her to stop? I don't want her thinking it's okay to go around chomping down on anyone she feels like.
